I've been a point-and-shoot "photographer" for more years than I care to remember. I had a vague familiarity with terms such as aperture, f-stop, ISO, et al., but no real understanding of how they actually related to taking good photos. Until now. I approached this book as if I knew zilch, and quickly found out I knew less than zilch. The author broke things down into small, simple bites that I opened a new level of understanding for me. I read the book from beginning to end with my Canon EOS Rebel T3 in front of me, and I finished in about a half hour. No question, it's a book for beginners, but what a helpful--and easy--read it is. A couple of typos notwithstanding--even the biggest publishers don't sell error-free books--the style and clarity were perfect for me. I've practiced what I've learned, and have seen a great improvement in the quality of my photos. Yesterday I bought a couple of more advanced books. I recommend this book as a first step for anybody who's wanted to break free of the AUTO setting and let his/her creativity fly.
I love this book!!!!!!! I am definitely a novice photographer, so when my wonderful husband bought me a Cannon Rebel camera for Christmas, I was excited to use it. I quickly learned that I needed some practical tips to help me get started this meant I needed a guide, I chose Beginners Digital SLR Crash Course and was not disappointed, Love the practical way thus book is written also love that the author chose pictures to demonstrate the various techniques. I give the book 5 stars and 100ðŸ˜
I found this book refreshing, the tone of the book is engaging and not monotone. I actually couldn't put the book down and had my camera in front of me following the instructions. I love photography and have been trying to teach myself to shoot in manual mode for months now and no book has simplified it for me like this one. It doesn't go into extreme details but covers the basics so you have an idea about shooting in the different modes. I really recommend reading this book, it's hard to find a good instructional book that doesn't put me to sleep.
This "book" is so short that it hardly qualifies as a book. However, it has some good information for absolute newbies to the photography world. It includes camera handling and composition tips, but doe not go very much into depth. Note that you do have to put up with the occasional typo or spelling error.
Great info for beginners, I was always a point and shoot guy. Sometimes the shots came out ok, But after reading this book, I feel confident that I can take much better photos and have the desire to learn more. Thanks for keeping it simple for newbies like me.
This book is very well written for any beginning photographer, using any camera with manual control. Also a refresher for how best to take better photographs in general. I enjoyed reading the book and added much to my photography knowledge. I give ★★★★★ only to books or products that will give me good value as time goes on, not just the here and now. You should get this book especially if you are new to photography.
This little book is perfect for explaining to a newbie how and what different settings on their cameras work and what they do. I wished I would have read this book when I started learning. I have a couple of friends I will be recommending it to. Thank You :)
I am the exact demographic the book was written for. I just bought a fancy Mirrorless Camera, but have essentially no idea how to use it. Then manual that came with it is great for telling me HOW to set the f-stop and all the other fancy features, but not WHY. This book is that. And it is concise, i read it in a couple of hours and then re-read it as i experimented with my new toy. I learned a whole lot, and perhaps more importantly and now confident to explore the entire list of features.
