As usual, Fodor's comes through. Their books are well written, informative and since this is a 2011 edition, probably as accurate as any current guide book.I do a lot of research and I mean A LOT, so I love looking reading guide books. You get ideas that you can either follow through online or use as is. This book covers the usual - hotels, restaurants, sights, transportation etc.., but covers them thoroughly, along with other invaluable information. I guess I enjoy reading a good guide book, as much as I enjoy a good novel and I read them cover to cover if they fit my needs and criteria.I used to think that Fodors books were written only for affluent travelers - WRONG... there is so much that appeals to travelers on all budgets. Of course hotels and restaurants are usually high end, but there are so many other entries and things to do, and pertinent information on your destination that make Fodors worthwhile for all budgets - and of course if you want to splurge or eat and stay in a higher range, you have those options.I use guide books mainly for things to see and do and for restaurants and out of town trips etc...

My grandson is moving to Cicago in the fall. He has grown up in Phoenix and went to College in Evansville IN. Chicago outstrips these stops in size, opportunity and complexity. Fodor Chicago lives u p to the reputation of Fodor. I covers the various scenes from art, education, architecture, culture to sports, night life and local color. Clear, and complete, it is a perfect book to learn Chicago.

Got for a recent trip. Could just read the 7 day example artineray to plan your excursion.

This is the third version of Fodor's travel guides I have purchased, I love them. Informative, well laid out, easy to read and full of very helpful insights. A must before you travel to your destination, but good just to research other countries and cultures, based on actual travel experience. I will be purchasing other destinations.

Great book!

This Fodor's Travel Guide is just what I was looking for. Very good description of the different neighborhoods of Chicago. Very practical concerning walking itineraries, public transportation,taxis,car and parking info, hotel and restaurant information including the rates. Good information about free concerts, jazz clubs, classic concerts, shopping in the different neighborhoods.The info I found at Amazon was OK and I knew Fodor's are good. Good map of Chicago included, easy to handle, good quality, it's not going to tear apart after a few days.

While everything that Richard K Harrison says about this book it true, the unfortunate fact is that this book was published in 2008. Microsoft has since shifted it's REST service effort out of Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and into ASP.Net MVC. In short, the WCF REST Toolkit is unsupported and Microsoft now recommends using ASP.Net Web API for REST.

I like the way the author writes; however, I have a few problems with the book as a whole:- The example code is a mess. It's badly formatted and a lot of just doesn't work. If you don't believe me, download it yourself before buying the book: [...]- There is just not enough focus on the client (the book contains 11 chapters and chapter 10 is client code). However, the example must have been an academic exercise for the author who focused on SSDS rather than a simpler example. He would have been better off sticking to his example code and focusing more on security from the client's perceptive.

I uses obsolete technologies: Silverlight 2 and WPF which is not RESTful. Silverlight is currently at version 5 and I don't know of any company using it. This book should not be sold.

Lots of good material covered in a concise manner. Overall, the information given here is very useful but a good amount of background WCF knowledge is assumed. The best WCF RESTful reference.

You can configure WCF to do so many things, its good to have a book dedicated to running with one architectural style. This book has been by my desk for a majority of the last two weeks as we were prototyping heavily. Obviously if you're doing stuff with SOAP and aren't interesting in changing your style, a more general book would be more applicable.

This is the only book you need if you are building new web services or exposing existing one in REST style. Right on time and money. I have not seen any comparable book which talk about REST support for WCF in that depth.

Good introduction to rest with .net. I'm a WCF dev so I can say that this book helps me a lot to design out rest API for our services consumers

Dont waist your time looking for any other .net RESTFUL book (to be honest, I dont know if is there any other! ;-) )This is the only one that you need to understand and implement your Windows Comunication Foundation services acordingly with the RESTFUL design. A must have!

I read this book 51 years ago when I was just out of college and into my career. It helped me understand and articulate why I was a conservative. The only thing I disagreed with the author on was that she was an atheist. I certainly don't think you have to be an atheist to be a conservative. I felt that it was time to now reread the book again. It is loaded on my Kindle and ready to go when I work my way to it.

This book provides a brief summary of Rand's philosophy using her fiction novels to illustrate key points. However, I would not recommend this book as the starting point for those who wish to study objectivism. You must read her fiction works such as The Fountainhead, We The Living, Anthem, and Rand's masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged in order to grasp her basic precepts. Then move onto her non-fiction offerings such as Philosophy: Who Needs It?; The Virtue of Selfishness; and Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. While this book is fantastic, think of it as a "Cliff's Notes" version of objectivism.

Excellent summary of her foundational philosophies as she established them in in various writing. Rand is probably the least understood, most mis-catagorized philosopher ever. She variously been call a nazi, socialist, and capitalist - proof that most people haven't actually read her books. This is a great starting point if you want to read and decide for yourself, as I did. Dare you to find where her reason and logic is faulty.

In today's political climate this is an especially interesting book to read. It regards the problem of morality and what is considered moral, and whether it should be. Ayn is definitely in favor of capitalism and individualism.

A great book to introduce or develop Ayn's ideas. It features an overview intro essay along with passages from her fiction. All of it's forceful - as is typical of Ayn - raising issues that have a key bearing on our lives both as individuals and in society. It does contain some of the biting language that's an element of caricatures of her, but her ideas go beyond this. She's accessible, clear, powerful and as relevant today as when this book first came out in the 1960s.

Forty years ago I read most of Atlas Shrugged , but skipped over Galts speech. I was more interested in the story line than her philosophical ramblings. But I did plan to get back to it. Still didn’t like it. At least now I’m done.

Superb analysis as always from Ms. Rand. She was WAY ahead of any other philosopher in the centuries before her or since. It's easy to see why so many people who are truly willing to hear her ideas and use scientific methods of thinking have embraced her Objectivist system. Objectivists may yet save Liberty for all of us from the uninformed masses who seem hell-bent on reckless statist policies.

I love Ayn Rand. This book is basically a reprint of Galts speech and other excerpts from Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead. Just read those books.

With the changes implemented November 27th, 2011 this revised edition is a must for any Liturgy Committee member; or just someone who loves the Liturgy. It is written in such a way as to enlighten; giving meaning and explanation to our traditions and norms. It would also be beneficial reading to anyone considering the RCIA process; or those desiring a true unbiased knowledge of the Catholic Faith. I highly recommend it.

For years, I kept seeing references to the GIRM and wanted to get a copy.When I saw it on Amazon.com, and at a reasonable price, I immediately bought one.Every priest, deacon, and anyone involved in the liturgical function of the parish should own a copy and read it.Plus, it is a good source for anyone else wishing to understand the liturgy better. Hmmm. I just talked myself into giving each of my three grown children a copy for them and their family to have.

Minimally invasive procedures in general surgery are more amenable to video recordings than the previous generation of open procedures, primarily because it is easy to connect a recording device to a laparoscope.  As a result, instructional videotapes and DVDs have been available for a variety of minimally invasive procedures since the 1990's.  In addition a number of comprehensive yet conventional operative atlases on laparoscopic general surgical procedures have been published.  It seems only natural to combine these two formats, video and illustrated text, into one instructional format, the DVD-atlas.  The Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery is a product of this union.  The multimedia aid consists of a conventional operative atlas combines with a set of DVDs that that contain edited video of each procedure described in the book.  The Atlas differs from earlier instructional video/text presentations in that it contains all of the commonly performed laparoscopic procedures in one presentation, whereas previous attempts at this format were monographic and focused on one procedure or one type of procedure. The Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery is not, however meant to be an encyclopedia of every technique described for every type of procedure.  Nor is the Atlas intended to be a platform for experimental surgery (e.g., natural orifice procedures). In planning the Atlas we generated a list of what we believed to be the most commonly performed laparoscopic procedure; for each we asked a primary author to describe the operation.  In truth, there are multiple operative approaches to every procedure in the Atlas. Some are more popular than others; some are easier than others; some are more effective than others; and so forth. Trying to sort out these issues will result in a dialogue that rapidly places the discussants on a "slippery slope" with little controlled data to grab hold to.  We admit that our process for selecting operative procedures and their respective authors to include in the Atlas was not scientific; it was based on impressions we have acquired while observing the evolution of minimally invasive surgery for the past two decades.  The Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery is also not intended to be the authority on procedure performance.  Since there are few of no controlled data in this area, only claim to such authority, but this product or others, would be nonsensical.  The Atlas is merely a guide, a collection of "How I Do It" intended as a teaching aid for medical students, surgical residents, and general surgeons.  It is also a product that should evolve over time, as newer and/or improved techniques become established.  It is our belief, and hope that the DVD-atlas format of the Atlas of Minimally Invasive Surgery will become a favorite teaching aid for laparoscopic operations in general surgery.Constantine T. About the Author

Dr. Frantzides is the Director of the Chicago Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery;Director of the Laparoscopic and Bariatric Fellowship Program at St. Francis Hospital and professor of surgery at University of Illinois in Chicago. He is recognized worldwide as an expert in the field of laparoscopic surgery and is a charter member of the United States Laparoscopic Founders Society. His experience in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery is one of the most extensive in the USA. He has traveled internationally to perform and teach laparoscopic operations. In recognition of his efforts in teaching advanced laparoscopic techniques, he was named Honorary member of the Brazilian Society of Surgery (Colegio Brasileiro de Cirurgia Digestiva), the Hellenic Surgical Association, and the Greek Laparoscopic Society. During the last 19 years, he has organized 31 laparoscopic courses through which 331 surgeons were trained in laparoscopic surgery. He has created the first laparoscopic fellowship program in the United States (1995) for training young surgeons in the art of minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Frantzides is a member of numerous professional societies and has been the recipient of several awards and honors as well as grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and from the surgical industry. Dr. Frantzides has made more than 200 contributions to the medical literature and has written two books on laparoscopic surgery. He was the first in the world to introduce and perform 14 different laparoscopic procedures. This is a superb book. The artwork quality alone is the best I have seen in any atlas in years. I really appreciate that there is a condensed video that goes with each procedure. The narration is particularly helpful in understanding what is being done at every step of the operation. I have been studying for my general surgery recertification, and the text descriptions of each procedure clearly point out the important evaluation, workup and mechanics of the major general surgical operations. One of the most helpful chapters for me was on hernia repair, particularly the illustrations of the inguinal region. This is probably the best I have seen. Although I do not perform bariatric procedures, I found the chapters on hiatal herniorrhaphy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass beautifully illustrated with drawings and photographs that complemented the videos. The artist of this book deserves kudos.

After five years as a practicing trauma/critical care surgeon I have recently decided to undergo further training in advanced minimally invasive surgery. Starting this new fellowship required a solid advanced reference in the practice and technique of laparoscopic surgery.Not only does Dr. Frantzides book provide excellent text in the principles of minimally invasive surgery, but vivid photographs and actual DVD footage of the procedure described in each chapter. The narrative and video are an invaluable resource in grasping the concepts of advanced and basic laparoscopic procedures. I highly recommend it to any practicing surgeon or resident.

I am a laparoscopic fellowship trained general surgeon, and I bought this book about six months ago. It is one of a kind, the text alone is cutting edge, but you throw in live narrated surgeries and it makes it a masterpiece. Any time I have a big case I watch the corresponding video and read the text the night before, and it is the equivlant to a dress rehersal, I know of no other atlas's like it. I carry it with me everywhere. I highly reccomend this atlas for medical students, residents, fellows and attendings.

I am a Physician who recently had LAP Gastric Bypass. I bought this book as I wanted to understand my surgery and the post OP course. It's so well written I found myself reading about other surgeries. It's clear and concise and the videos are well done and informative. The post OP data on my LGB was state of the art and consistent with all of the most up to date literature. The synthesis of the info was great.I would highly reccomend this book.

This the fourth and final book in this series and I am sad that it is over. Out of all four books I am not sure which would be my favorite. I loved them all.If you are looking for a great quick read then you must read this series.I thought that the author did a fantastic job with portraying each character.The original book starts with Livy looking for a job. A friend tells her about a job opening but she must keep an open mind as the job is not your typical job requirements. She goes on the job interview not sure if she can meet the requirements. As she meet the boss (Hunter) something's just can't be help. Can't tell you what happens as it is quite comical. If you wish to find out more then you will just have to buy the book and I promise you won't be be disappointed.

So as I mentioned in the first book review I read this entire series in a weekends time. It was very easy to read and very addictive hard to put down. This book and the first book were a tie as being my favorite. This book really wrapped up a lot of loose ends and made you feel happy. Nice solid end to the book. Not as many intimate scenes which was nice because it let me focus more on the story. You really fell in love with the main characters. All in all a great read, and a great way to relax on a slower weekend after a crazy week.

I loved this series from beginning to end. It was full of drama, angst, humor, heartbreak, conflict, steamy sex, and sweet romance. Olivia and Hunter had sizzling chemistry in spades. I read all 4 installments in less than 24 hours because I couldn't put my Kindle down. My one complaint is the price of books 2, 3, and 4. $3.99 for approximately 200 pages is quite steep in my opinion but I liked book 1, which was free, well enough to shell out the almost $12 to complete the series. It is definitely worth the read if you are willing to spend the money. If you're not, don't read book 1 because it will suck you in.

Willows done it again. This entire series is one to guarantee a happily ever after. It chocked full of delightful twists and turns and every emotion under sun. The romance is both sweet and steamy. The chemistry is contagious and no doubt will raise a readers temperature. This one is true to Willows writing style, there’s something in this series for everyone. I laughed, I shed some tears and through it all I was cheering for Olivia and Hunters truly fated , destined love affair. Perseverance, patience and forgiveness equates to a bond that lasts the tests of time. Wounds heal and darkness clears for the shining of the sun. What a wonderful story. I highly recommend this series.

Where Forever, Please didn't have the steaminess of the earlier books and the drama was significantly less, it was written the way an ending to a series should end. Everything was tied up and you didn't have any questions of what happened next. I was pleased with the ending and felt content with the life that Hunter and Olivia ended with.The series showed how the relationship evolved and how the past effects the future but in the end a great partnership can get you a HEA.

This book was written well, as was the entire series. Interesting romance, and very heartwarming. I never did really warm up to Hunter, but that's just me. He was a very good, yet extremely complicated character. Livy was a great character and even when she went through her "I'm nothing more than a doormat" times, she was strong, witty, and she did stand up for herself quite a few times. The romance was a roller coaster that I thought would never level out, but there is a HEA. There were several secondary characters that tried to interfere and cause chaos, and a few who were supportive, very fun, and lovable. If the author wrote another series like this one I would definitely read it.

Those other reviewers who say this reads like one long epilogue aren't wrong. There is a thin plot, but mostly it wraps up all of the lose endsYou can end with the previous book without losing anything. That said, I did enjoy this and the overall series.

Loved this series and this book . This was a heart warming emotion filled book as well as the whole series. I laughed, cried and wanted hubby near by. Wow Hunter was the alpha rich dominate male who called the shots and made you want more. Hunter had been crushed in his past by those he loved and had fears to overcome. Olivia was a patient but headstrong woman who broke through to him some how. Their relationship wasn't easy and they both had to work on it. Hunter is a hard man to break out of his mold some how is able to make him see not everyone you love is not out to hurt with them.

I am so impressed by the information that the author presents - from culture, politics, history and geography. Lots of recommendations for places to see and not to be missed. I would think that the book would have greater sales if he did not mention a specific cruise line at the end. Holland America and Viking will be making the same itinerary and would probably mention his book otherwise. We will be taking that cruise and I have used it to plan all of the excursions.

First thing I noticed after receiving this guide was that it was large (8 1/2x11). For air travel and cruise, I found this totally impractical - there's a reason most travel guides are more compact. Considering that the margins are huge (is that much room needed for notes?) the typing would nearly fit on 1/2 size pages without reducing font size. Most maps are terrible - not even readable with magnifying glass. Some photographs provided some good reference.This guide provided some relevant information on geography and history but I found it of little use in planning our excursions. Cruise ship provided information was much better. Our cruise departed from San Antonio rather than Valparaiso as do all major cruises I could find on-line. No info at all in the guide for San Antonio. Also the only option suggested for transportation between the port and Santiago was a private car and driver; are there really no other options? I found no information in the book about Castro, a frequent port for cruise ship stops. Very little information was provided for temperatures to be expected at each port - a chart for each port with at least minimum and maximum temperature for each month would be helpful. Very disappointed, I will not purchase another cruise guide by this author.

This book is great for an overview of the history and geography of Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. It does include information on interesting things to see in each port. However, it contains a bunch of extraneous information for most travelers, such as restaurants he likes and information of parts of the countries you have no opportunity to see. It also lack practical information on each port--tenders or docks, currency exchange, local tours and transportation not from your ship (there's a little of this), services at each port, etc.

This book was AMAZING!!!..I did an overview of the book before we left for our trip but each day before each of our ports we sat down and read about the areas we were going to visit. It helped us tremendously with what areas to make sure we saw and those we didn't need to worry with. I would HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone planning to take a cruise in these areas...

Self-published books are nearly always deficient (editors matter) and this book is no exception. Auto-code to is no substitute for copy editing. While there is useful information here, the lack of more precision in reporting and the lack of detailed maps is a deficiency. You would do better punching a good guide book for Argentina and Chile, because you’d have more authoritative and complete information with a few added potential ports and descriptions of the possible excursions you might take.

My husband could not put it down until he finished the whole thing. Full of great info about the areas. Invaluable tool for planning our cruise next year!

very informative book about the area of the world that we will be visiting soon. only problem was we are sailing Chile toArgentina, so had to read the book in reverse order!!!

Would have liked more information about excursions in each port.
