The way to do this is to "do hard things". Those hard things come from five categories, which include things that are outside of your comfort zone, things that go beyond what is expected or required, things that are too big to accomplish alone, things that don't earn an immediate pay off and things that challenge the cultural norm.This is meant to be a book that challenges the teen's psyche and inspires the reader to do things in the name of God to improve their world. Many people fail to push themselves and therefore fail to accomplish much of anything in their lives. By nipping this in the bud during the teenage years, a person could live a much more lively life.While this book is written for teenagers, I think just about anyone could glean some inspiration and motivation from it. The only two issues I have is that Catholics may find some offense in this book especially with how monks are depicted or imagined by the authors and the proselytizing without regard to one's personal safety.Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Waterbrook Multnomah in exchange for my review. I'm 37 years old and just finished this book. It's one of many that I have started over the last 16 months, but the only one I have finished.I was inspired to read the book after listening to an audio about a father who watched his son's love for baseball, be cut short as he tried out for the High School team and was cut. This sent the son on the "normal" teenage path of bad choices, friends who were bad influences, and ultimately a party that changed his son's life.The father came home from a family outing that the young man, who was 14 at the time, decided not to go on. What he found once he got home, was the remains and evidence of what had been a wild party. With fire in his eyes, and not knowing what to do, he chased his son to his room, bent him over his knee and spanked him. Further discussion came with the price of not knowing what further consequences would be, but for the immediate future, he was grounded. Shortly after this experience, the father came across this book. The new consequence would be, his son could be ungrounded once he read the book and wrote a report about what he had learned from the book, not just a report about what the book was about. The young man has since started his own free enterprise business, leads others in the fight of free enterprise education, and continues to grow and inspire others his own age and is only 18.My oldest son is now 14 and he excels in school. He should only be in 8th grade, but is dual enrolled in both High School and College as a freshman, taking a handful of sophomore classes. He also has his own business as a subcontractor doing miscellaneous jobs to earn money. Because school comes so easy for him, he doesn't push himself to his limits or full potential. His spare time and all of his money is drowned in video games and he knows everything there is to know about the Zelda Universe.He recently asked my wife and I if he could skip a couple days of school to buy the newest game system and the newest Zelda game that came out the same day. Neither of us liked the idea, but we also knew how hard he had worked to save up the money to achieve his goal. At that point I made a deal with him. He could have the 2 days off of school if he agreed to read this book and write a 2 page report of what he learned from the book.I gave him this challenge a month ago, 02/02/17. My wife, in her infinite wisdom, 2 weeks later, challenged me too read and finish the book before he did. She thought it would be a good idea for me to be able to discuss what I'd learned from the book with him once we were both done reading it. He finished late last night, I finished this morning 03/01/17. I look forward to reading his report and discussing my goals and the hard things I plan on accomplishing this year. My hard things include significant weight loss, tripling my income, and taking my entire family (I'm a sole provider of a family of 9) on a 2 week long tropical getaway. 2017 will be my best year!

My 13yo dd grabbed this up before my 15yo ds could (I bought it for him), and she has been challenging herself to make and keep routines, be more helpful, and even wants to start a non-profit helping the homeless now! She has all kinds of great ideas. I haven't read the book yet myself, but just judging by her response, I am impressed!

This is a book that can change every teenagers life. The message that God has a plan for your life and it starts now, not when you turn 21, is so inspirational to a young person who wants more. This message can plant a seed in your heart that grows into a deep belief that God has bigger ,greater plans for you when you trust Him.

They say some good things in this book, but I wasn't looking for the sole reason to do something "hard" is for God. I am not taking away the value of doing something for God or believing, but I feel that pushing the connection with God could have been in another book. I didn't understand the authors background ahead of time - my fault. This is not a book my children will connect to. It would be great for a church youth group though.

I bought this book for my daughter and granddaughter. It is written by two homeschooling brothers who discovered a secret most teens are missing-that they are capable of doing way more than we give them credit for! A must read for all youth groups and middle to high school kids! Our daughter is a high school sophomore and read this and gave her class a book talk on it-very important stuff here. Makes a wonderful gift for teens, especially those who are leaders.

Purchased this book for my 15 year old son for Christmas. He doesn’t “love” to read but we make it a priority as a family. He came to me yesterday and said “mom this book is a page turner!” He is inspired, motivated, and has enjoyed reading. I would highly recommend!

We read this in our youth group and it's an incredible read! Really inspired many of our youth and transformed their lives! We bought theses two copies for our kids as a summer reading project. They are really enjoying their read of them! Incredible for teens to help them believe they can do way more than society expects of them!

Another one: 'The one downside at this point is the fact that the users resist change of every type, and sandals that fear the unavoidable future breakup of the team.' Yes, 'sandals'. The book is written with a conversational style so the reader can figure out what the overall context is but it's immensely frustrating. I tried to find some link to contact a real person at Amazon, to no avail. My edition was marked copyrighted 2019 by Gary Metcalfe. A staple in our home for almost a year has been Liz’s, “The One-Pot Ketogenic Diet Cookbook”. Without this, I wouldn’t have gotten the idea for many of the fast and delicious foods that my family enjoys. Although my family is not 100% keto, or even 50%, they know dinner will be keto and it’ll be delicious.When Liz’s new cookbook, “Keto Meal Prep”, was introduced, I was SO READY! I have a keto meal plan that I’ve purchased; however, after a mini-stroke, I found it incredibly difficult to make a list of items I needed from this meal plan without getting lost on what was needed on what day and not buying things too far in advance and so on. I left something off, always – or bought too much of something and started a stockpile in my freezer.Here are my favorite things about this new meal prep book!1. Great list of items to enjoy while on keto and why or if it should be in moderation.2. List of foods to limit and why. Being told why, helps you rationalize WAY more why it’s limited.3. Keto flu symptoms and how to avoid it. For some, it just happens. I’ve been lucky and never had it.4. Basic meal prep principals. We all hear how awesome meal prep is but if you’re busy, you still think it’s just not an option. Liz helps you realize, it really is, and it’ll help you stay on track!5. Intermittent fasting is explained in the simplest of ways – maybe it’s right for you.6. “The Art of Storage” – you never knew this was really a big deal, but I now know it is if I want my food to last! The food storage chart was incredibly helpful. I NEVER knew that cooked meats could last so long. I’ve been throwing away items WAY too soon!7. Meal prep lifestyles – What is this? Well – whether you’re a beginner or advanced and just want to maintain, she’s made it easy for you and customized it without you whipping your HSA card out.8. Weekly layout – This my friends is where the glory lives. I cannot put into words how incredibly helpful these pages are.a. Shopping list for the week, sorted by produce, protein, dairy and pantry. Woman after my own heart! My heart fluttered; my OCD smiled, and I KNEW this was going to be easy.b. Step by step prep – condensed into a couple pages and NOT overwhelming!c. Daily menu in a snapshot – this helps me know what I need to change IF I want to OR tells my kids what they’re going to be having for the week. For my family, I still make the dinners but add a pork chop or other protein for them, so they feel fuller. Personally, I DO feel full because I’ve been eating different than them for the day.9. Customization with each meal. Liz gives you the freedom to be creative and add a few more ingredients for taste. I like this because I don’t feel like it’s a take it or leave it menu.10. DAIRY FREE OPTIONS!! You read right. For each meal, you have the option to be dairy free. For many, lactose intolerance and keto are hard. Everything has cheese – cheese is life after all! Liz gives you a replacement item for your dairy, so you still have a thickener in place of a dairy item. (my personal experience is that it’s usually a thickener but don’t take that as gospel)11. Macro listings – Liz makes it easy to know what you’re eating for the day without tracking everything in an app the exhaustive and manual way. You already know for each meal what your macros will be and what your daily intake is going to be.12. Ingredient and cooking tips – Liz tells you some tips for ingredients you may want to add that she loves to add or some cooking tips to make your food more flavorful in the long run.13. Staples and bonus recipes– So this sounds weird, but this section of the cookbook is just…BEYOND one of my favorite.a. Avocado lime dressing – what an awesome side item. This is something I put on everything. It’s SO good over deviled eggs. I LOVE the flavor.b. Dairy free ranch – YES PLEASE! Although since being on keto I’m far less lactose intolerant, sometimes I just don’t want to chance it.c. Caesar dressing – my daughter is a sucker for Caesar anything and she LOVES this dressing in the biggest way!d. Fat coffee – don’t feel obligated to have this but if you do, the ground cinnamon is a game changer. MCT oil and I don’t get along but the rest of it helps to get it on down. 8 oz isn’t that much either.e. Breakfasts – I use this for quick things to make on the weekends sometimes. Now with an instantpot, omelet muffins are easy, and the kids can do it.14. Lunch and dinners – these are QUICK people and I rely on these for days I come home and don’t feel well or it’s late and my family has so sweetly waited for me to cook…15. Vegetables and snacks – you can read this section but let me jump to a few of my favorite itemsa. Coconut chocolate mousseb. Blended strawberry coconut ice popsc. Caprese chopped salad – I could live on this stuff!My take away from this book is this – no matter how much time you think you don’t have, this guide makes it possible for you to have time. Recipes are simple, quick and delicious. It’s so well laid out, not confusing and visually puts you at ease. When I first saw it, I thought, “Oh wow, I can do this”, and I did. I used to feel overwhelmed with other meal preps because you don’t get it drilled down like this. In this format, it’s easy to be successful. HUGE kudos for Liz in writing another incredible tool for keto’ers of all styles!

All the recipes look delicious. Haven’t tried any yet. But at first glance: Organized beautifully. I love that it has the 3 different types of prep (beginner, performer, maintenance). I liked all the bonus recipes too.Only one star down because I would’ve liked to see pictures for each meal prep recipe. Maybe it’s just my personal opinion, but cooking is very much visual and I believe cookbooks should be as well.Otherwise, still looks great. I follow Liz on IG and am inspired by her fitness level. That’s how I came to purchase.

New to Keto and wanted help to kickoff the journey. Made week one yesterday, went shopping and followed the shopping list. Well the shopping list did not have avocado on it which is part of the burger meal. It had two dozen eggs but recipes have you make more. Does not mention needing to adjust recipes to make only what is needed for the week meal prep. And the first week the net carbs on day one are 33 which was higher than I expected. I will keep at it and maybe come back and update this with what I hope is a better review.

Good recipes and a solid way to get started with Keto. The weekly summaries ingredient list don't match up well with what the actual recipes call for though. I ended up wasting a lot of food going off the summary list, next time I'll just look at the recipe itself.

Both my daughter and younger sister adore this series. My daughter carries these books everywhere and even reads them out loud to her kitties, turtle, and lizards. It’s pretty cute. This series is truly the best.

This is a children's book written for children ages 4-8,but it certainly can be enjoyed by anyone. The writerhas done an excellent job, and you feel as though youwere actually there with the main characterr.There are far too many books out there that convey a senseof hopelessness or despair, with no brightness at all --and even far too many children's books these days do that.But this book is written with sense of happiness andlightness, and it is but one of a long series, all ofwhich have happy endings and a sense of hope throughout.The main characters are interesting, too.The book is quite fun to read aloud ton someone of any age.You will not be disappointed.

My buoys love this series. We go through 2-3 books a week. Read them in order though. Each book references the previous book. I find myself looking forward to reading time to see what will happen next.

My four year old son is in love with this chapter series! A friend suggested it to us since he seemed ready for a more advanced reading material at bedtime. My husband reads him a chapter every night...sometimes more because they don't want to stop. It's become a great tradition for them, and something they both look forward to. We love that there are so many in the collection! Start with number 1 and just continue. :)

These are hands down the BEST children's books ever written. I read every one to my son when he was in kindergarden. Then in 3rd grade he read every one to me. Now I am purchasing them for my nieces. Mary Pope Osborne is a spectacular children's author. i would recommend reading them in order.

This was a very good book in the Magic Tree house series. We have thoroughly enjoyed all the books in this series, so far. We are looking forward to meeting the polar bears with Jack and Annie in the next book. This book is, yet again, another definite recommend!

I always buy my books from Amazon and am always pleased.

My seven year old son loves EVERY SINGLE one of the Magic Tree House books. He is determined to own/read all of them.

About the Author

At the age of three, Al Argueta first traveled to Guatemala with his father and was utterly captivated by the country's landscape and its Mayan inhabitants. This guidebook is excellent and expansive. I purchased this guidebook, as well as the Lonely Planet, for our week vacation in Guatemala. I ended up using the Moon guidebook 90 percent of the time, not only for travel recommendations while there, but also to add texture and background to the trip. Moon knocks it out of the ballpark again!

It seems to very informative and will be very useful for our upcoming trip.

This is a wonderful guide. It inspires me to go to Guetamala.

The guide book was very out of date.

Had a month in Guatemala and I found this book not very informative. The information about the metro bus in Guatemala City was disorganized and inaccurate. This book kept recommending “go with a tour group...go with a tour group” I’m pretty sure no one buys a travel guide for that kind of advice. Long story short, after a couple days it was buried in the bottom of my bag. After the first week I donated it to the library at my hotel. Couldn’t justify packing it around anymore. Dead weight.

Moon handbooks have long been our favorite source of travel information. This one has provided us what we have needed for a trip to Guatemala.

This book has a very useful assessment in it that works great not only for cross-cultural workers but also for looking at marriage from a cross-cultural perspective. Some of our participants said it gave them more insight into sources of potential or real conflict that was better than counselors they had talked with.

Although I read this as an adjunct to a Cambodian mission trip, I highly recommend this book for improving interpersonal relationships around you, both common and uncommon. It sparks both personal evaluation as well as curiosity towards others and an openness too both. It then expands human culture and reminds us as Christians that our citizenship is in heaven so our priorities here are not culture bound but God breathed in the person of Jesus and his examples/priorities.

This book helps with the big picture on key ideas, whereas "Christianity Confronts Culture" is much fuller in concepts and material. The only constraint is "Christianity Confronts Culture" is exclusively a hard copy and is no where to be found thus far as an ebook. Hopefully, the book will also come to Kindle to provide a fuller resource to "Ministering Cross-Culturally."
